Alberobello is one of the few places where the traditions of this region are still visible on the streets (the old town); Trulli houses. This part of Alberobello is on UNESCO's World Heritage Sites. Loose stones, most similar to slate, are piled up into a cone without the use of cement. Often the chimney adorned with a wind catcher. Several such roofs form one house.
Shops are probably the best way to get a peak into these unique Trulli houses. Some even offer a free panoramic view from their roofs.
