Villa Romana del Casale, under UNESCO protection, probably belonged to a member of the Roman senatorial aristocracy (a governor) and is seen as one of the most luxurious Roman villa's. All rooms (there are a lot of them) are decorated with amazing mosaic floors, unlike any other mosaic floors. The main hallway (around 20m) is decorated with hunting rituals of exotic animals from Africa. This must have been one hell of villa when it was in full glory.
The mosaic floors are the star of the show at Villa Romana del Casale, take your time to take them all in. Parking costs are an extra €1,50 per hour.
