By chance we stopped at the view point across the way here we saw the first New Zealand Fur Seal colony (as seen from Picton) so we had to pull over for that. Accidentally our eye caught the sign "Ohau Stream Walkway and Waterfall" and damn what an epic sight. For us this was the most beautiful waterfall. We were unfortunately not in the seal pup season but that can only make the waterfall better. The puppies find their way through the river to the puddle here and learn to swim in complete safety. There are some nature documentaries that have brought it into view.
The season when the seal pups use the pool is around fall, I dare not say exactly when. But even without pups is worth the short walk.
