Milford Sound is an impressive fjord which must be viewed from the water. This may vary by cruise or kayak, but both are weather dependent. Milford Sound is popular because, unlike the Doubtful Sound, is accessible by car. The route to it is the fuel it, if it has rained forming waterfalls everywhere what a joy to watch. This continues during a trip around Milford Sound, waterfalls begin so high that they never touch the ground. But it's more than just scenery, watch the rare penguins and seals.
There are no gas stations after Te Anau, so make sure you leave with a full tank towards Milford Sound. Also keep in mind the weather, there would sometimes prevent landslides and bad weather is not gone there. If you do not have transport from Queenstown and Te Anau also leave tour buses.
